CONSUMERS will have a greater voice in the telecommunications sector with the federal government announcing funding to support the establishment of new peak representative group.
The Australian Communications Consumers Action Network (ACCAN) has be given $700,000 to help with start-up costs before its official launch next year.Communications Minister Stephen Conroy said strong consumer representation in telecommunications would put pressure on the industry to lift its game.
"This is an important development for consumers, who through this new group will have a more powerful voice and will be better represented in the establishment of frameworks for future service delivery," Senator Conroy said.
